Here is another Deb's idea of "playing with color" that I would love to share her artical with all of our members. Anyone that has some valued knowledge that would love to share with others, please send your idea or artical via comment or e-mail me. I will post all valued knowledge on the blog. This is her letter wrote to me.
Hey and howdy Emy!
I will be glad to explain playing with color. I love to share things with others so much, it makes the world a better place! I got rid of my TV and do not miss all the bad news all the time. I would rather turn on music and do my beading that watch TV anymore. When I don't bead, I work with my horses and work with race horses.
Here is an easy way for you to play with color! Grab two or three beads of say six to eight different colors. Make sure to have some AB finishes and Opaques too. Then lay them out in a row side by side, I make rainbows, very mixed up rainbows. But what is fun is that you will see color combinations you would never think would look nice together! ......read more, please click on the article.
It is sort of like picking up leaves in the Fall. Have you ever picked up a leaf because the colors in it made you think it was pretty? That is sort of the idea of what I am speaking of. Nature is a wonderful way to study colors! Tree bark is another good example of color combinations. Cherry has a shiney bark that if you look closely, you will see all sorts of colors that you do not realize are there. But all those colors put together paint a very pretty picture! Birch trees are another tree that mixes many colors but some birch trees offer a study of opaque colors too.
I hope this gives you an idea of what I mean by playing with color! Don't just pass by a rock on the ground, stop and pick it up and look at the colors in it! I am willing to bet that just a walk around the block will provide you with all sorts of colors and color patterns you may have never thought to use.
Sometimes I like to sit outside and meditate and pray. This opens my mind, my heart, and my spirit. So when I pick up things and look at them during these times, I am able to see things, like color and texture, that I usually miss. We get so busy that we become blind in a way and forget all the wonderful things waiting to be discovered and picked up! So I like to try and get people to slow down and really look with an open heart and spirit.
If you try this, I promise you will get much more than ideas for different colors to use! You will also find that your spirit will be renewed, and if you let it go free, it will dance and inspire you to do things you thought you could not ever do! My favorite prayer is to ask God to help a person to dance in spirit and I send that prayer to you. A spirit that can dance is a happy and loving spirit that brings much joy to a sad world! A dancing spirit paints rainbows of love! May your spirit paint many rainbows!
May God bless you and yours, Deb
